6-Seater Golf Carts: What to Know Before Buying a Six-Passenger Cart

The six-seater is the family cart, the resort cart, and the cart that carries the whole crew to the beach. Here is what changes when you add a third row, and what to check on a used one.

A six-passenger cart is a stretched four-seater: a longer frame, a third row (usually forward-facing in the middle and rear-facing at the back), and a heavier load on the motor, batteries, brakes, and rear suspension. Every major brand makes one — Club Car Onward 6, E-Z-GO Express S6 and Liberty-based six-seaters, Yamaha Concierge, ICON i60, Evolution Forester 6 and Carrier 6 — and they are a growing share of the used market.

What changes with six seats

  • Length: a six-seater is noticeably longer than a four-seater. Measure your garage, your driveway turn, and the path to the charger before you buy.
  • Power: six adults and a cooler are a real load. Lithium packs, AC drives, and gas EFI engines handle it; a tired 48V lead-acid pack will struggle on hills.
  • Brakes and suspension: the rear carries most of the weight. Check the rear springs, shocks, and brake performance with passengers aboard.
  • Seat belts: a titled LSV six-seater has belts at every position; a golf cart may not. Decide which you need before you shop.

What to check on a used six-seater

  1. Where did it live? Rental fleets and resorts run six-seaters hard; a private-owner cart is usually the better buy.
  2. Load it up and drive a hill. Sag, surge, or a controller cutout under load is the battery or electronics telling you something.
  3. Check the rear-facing seat's latches and the grab bars; they are the parts kids use most.
  4. Confirm the charger matches the pack and that the cart reaches a full charge overnight.

What six-seaters sell for

Six-passenger carts ask more than four-seaters of the same brand and age, and lithium or gas EFI six-seaters ask the most because they carry the load without complaint. The live figures for the category are below.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 6-seater golf cart fit in a garage?
Most fit a standard two-car garage lengthwise, but the turning radius and the charger location matter more than the parking space. Measure before buying.
Is a 6-seater slower?
Not by design, but under a full load a lead-acid electric cart will feel it on hills. Lithium and gas EFI six-seaters hold their pace.
Can a 6-seater be street legal?
Yes — several brands sell six-passenger LSVs with belts at every seat, a VIN, and the required equipment. Ask for the title.
Which brands make the best six-seaters?
Yamaha's Concierge and Club Car's Onward 6 are the established-brand choices; ICON's i60 and Evolution's Forester 6 and Carrier 6 are the modern lithium options. Judge on battery, dealer, and condition.
